We have now been to the Flinders Ranges many times, our first time in 1970. This year we travelled
to the Flinders with a group from Probus then met with a group from the 4wd club for another week.
There had been considerable rain and many roads were closed. “We are waiting for the graders next
week” was a common call. The graders were certainly going to be busy next week.

Next: Burra
The Parachilna Formation is
composed of soft siltstone
& sandstone. it was
deposited during renewed
flooding by the sea. It
contains evidence of
burrowing marine animals.
The find for this trip was Grindells Hut and surrounding areas. There was one mild
water crossing into the hut making it difficult for cars. We were surprised to find a
rental car on the wrong side of the crossing and escorted him out. This area is well
worth a stopover. There is camping on a slight slope beside the hut or a better
camping area below.
