Terowie is a town of never-say-die people. Their town was once a major hub, a junction of two railway rail gauges supplying the nearby grazing lands and the mining towns. In the 1970s the closing of the railway relegated Terowie to ghost town status. When you stop in the main street two things strike you, the lack of people and the charming eccentric developments. The main highway bypasses Terowie but it is definitely worth the time to turn off and visit.
