During our stay at Porongurup we did a day trip to Stirling Ranges. The days were getting hotter or else we would have moved on to the camping area at Moingup Spring off the Chester Pass Rd. It seemed hot and dry and a bit too crowded for us. So this trip we drove the long track through the Stirling Ranges NP enjoying the views and calculating the energy needed to try some of the steep walks up the slopes to various peaks. This area really deserves more time than we gave it for its floral diversity. We also found the German bakery at Mt Barker and loved its coffee and cakes.
