The Grey Gypsies website is a collection of travel blogs within Australia. On our travels we have visited many wonderful places both in terms of the scenic beauty and the people who live and visit these places. We hope you will enjoy sharing these with us. Our first trip on becoming Grey Gypsies, was the wildflower circuit in Western Australia. (We extended the trip to take in the south west of WA). Since then we have done one major trip each year with a few minor trips as well. When we are home we pack the picnic set & the recovery gear and head into the country of NE Vic where we live. Some of Our Trips During July and August of 2011 we completed a trip encompassing two iconic tracks, Len Beadell’s Gunbarrel Hwy and the Canning Stock Route. Follow us on our trip here. Our trip for 2012 was to Cape York via The Coach Road between Maytown and Laura - superb experience!!! - and the Old Telegraph Track. In 2013 we had planned a trip north to Boulia retracing some of our earlier Gulf trip and west across the Donohue & Plenty Hwys to Alice & the MacDonnell Ranges. Unfortunately circumstances beyond our control has meant no significant trips this year. For the 2014 trip we purchased an A Van Cruiseliner and headed off Boolcoomatta, the Painted Desert and Robe. A return in 2015 to Tasmania brought back memories of one of our favourite places, Tasmania. We visited some old haunts and quite a few new places, although we were deeply disappointed by the huge changes in the north west corner. 2016 realised our ambition for 2013 and we enjoyed the wonders of the Macdonnel Ranges, both east and west, and Meg at last got to Boulia where she was hoping to experience the Min Min lights. After reading about Lake Tyrell in several magazines and because Meg wanted to visit The Breakaways we incorporated them in a re-visit to the Alic Springs Desert Park Another “Find!” was Tarra Bulga National Park at the end of the Grand Ridge Road in Gippsland. What a hidden gem as is the Grand Ridge Road. On a sad note, 2019 saw the departure of our trusty Avan (the Maus Haus) to a new owner. We had five wonderful years of travel in it and hope the new owner will enjoy it every bit as much as we did.
