Mitta Mitta is a very small country town between Tallangatta and
Omeo on the Omeo Highway and close to the Darmouth Dam. The
Omeo Hwy is a narrow winding road with scenic views of river
valleys passing the famous Blue Duck Inn where our grand parents
stayed. The historic gold mining towns of Glen Wills and Glen
Valley are still there while Sunnyside where 20,000 people lived during the
gold rush is now totally overgrown with no signs evident. Only a road sign
marks the spot. In the ‘60s there was a picture of the tent town in the
club house on Mount Wills. This picture of Sunnyside is probably
long gone.
