We arrived in Normanton on Thursday and festivities were already
underway for the long weekend. A street procession was the fore-
runner of the main event the Rodeo. All country towns in north Qld
seem to have a rodeo at some time of the year.
Normanton boasts three pubs, a huge replica of the largest crocodile
ever caught, a beautiful shire office and many people
taking a pride in their town and trying to promote it
favourably. One pub was recommended as safe and a
good meal. We can vouch for the good meal; for $10
per head we had a scrumptious barbecue.
